2.8 is always better for portraits than lower like a 1.8. its perfect for a portrait
Would you happen to have any fmliay photo’s that were taken in Sterling that you would be willing to share? I live in Sterling and am interested in the history. Any photo’s that also include buildings are of interest.I remember your Aunt Francis and Uncle Dugan and Butch, they lived down the road from me when I was growing up.
i dont use filters, i have a whole video on it on my channel if you want to check it out.
Thanks. I will check it out.
I don’t understand why you say to not center your subject when almost all of your example photos…… have the subject centered.
it may seem like it but i fill up all the frame with the subject and i use the rule of thirds. when talking about directly i mean like. having about half the picture blank space while the subject is only a mere spec in the image.
which sigma 70-200 are you using?
There is a critical shortage of inmirfatove articles like this.
I can learn alot from you, thanks for posting eh? I would say if you don’t like those image stabilized 70-200s, look for the Nikon 80-200 AF-S, it autfocuses on that D5000 of yours. It was replaced by the Nikon 70-200 VRI though, but its pretty sharp still. Anything else you’ll do for a portriat? just wondering, thanks
thanks im trying my best :)! yeah im aware of the 80-200 i was going to get it but i did not want to spend more then $900 on a lens because after all its not my profession or half my profession more of a enthusiast. and the fact of spending $900+ on a lens is ridiculious i would kick myself if i had to think if i did something like that.

yeah, well, you’re happy with what you have and its all good man. I personally like making the biggest prints I can make so I kinda do have to buy these really exspensive lenses 🙁 I’m kinda sad, my 70-200 is going to cost me $2600 atleast every lens after that is cheaper. rock on man!
yeah the 70-200 is awesome! tell me when you get it :)!
That I will, lol, maybe I’ll make an un-boxing video and post it. say, do you use automatic autofocus selection or do you manually select te focus point and if so, where?
yeah that will be sweet, yes i shoot in Manual mode and choose the focus point i always like to put it on the main part of the picture if its a portrait then on the Head
same here, though that being said I’ll go for the closest one to the eyes
do you think the Nikon 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 1,8 are good for portraits?
i plan on getting one of the 2 this year.
What about the Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 Di II?
I plan on getting it early March.
for portraits the 50mm 1.8, you should check out my latest video i talk about those two lenses:). and That tamron lens is good nice general purpose lens with a nice 2.8 aperture.
im planning to get the sigma 70-200 or the tamron version…which do you think is better?
you should watch my newest Viewer Questions video, i answer your question 🙂
Haha.. Rule of thirds fails :))
Its all about what you perfer. Every Photog. artist has his twist. I use the 50mm 1.8 because its great for Street Photography which I do in NYC. No flash.
Don’t buy Sigma OR Tamron….ever.
Y u no use prime lenses?
thats all i use for portraits mainly I was experimenting with the 70-200. watch my newer videos.
thanks bro..i didnt i bought the old nikon 80-200 afd instead and man its a hell of a lens..no vr but image quality is really good.
What type of lens should I use for low light portraits? Like taking pictures in the city at night.
a lens with an aperture of atleast 1.8 or lower. a 35mm 1.8 would be great
your facebook page link isn’t working.
thanks, I fixed it.
