Photography – How To Get out of Auto

In this video Jared shows you how easy it is to go from auto into manual. When many people start in photography they start off shooting in full auto because they are afraid to venture into manual. There is honestly nothing to be afraid of. You can use auto as a way to lead you into manual. The auto settings will get you close and the manual settings will give you more control. Is that how you do it whenever you go to an event? You first shoot a test picture in full auto mode and then change it to manual mode to tweek it a little bit?

that was dust in the house, not on the lens

Hey fro, I just got my Canon T3i today. It is my first DSLR I thought it would be easy shooting manual but i guess its not! Anyways, I try to set my shutter speed to 1/400 and my ISO to 6400 and aperture to its highest ( I forgot the highest aperture) but it still turns out dark. How do you make it so it is not?

Why is your ISO so high? 6400 is too sensitive to light. Are you shooting in a dark area (museum, evening light?)?

Kyle Harrelson says:

nope just in my house

Yama Sultani says:

Well you don’t need to use ISO 6400 because that will create more grain in your image. To make up for the lower ISO that is now at maybe 800 or 400, you can slow down your shutter speed. Just be careful not to go under 1/30 unless you are stable enough, or have a tripod. Hope I helped!
